CAIRO: An Egyptian court has sentenced a leading Editor to a year in prison after finding him guilty on charges of libelling President Hosni Mubarak, judicial officials said. The latest incident in Egypt's crackdown on journalists critical of Mr. Mubarak and his Government saw Mr. Ibrahim Eissa, Editor-in-Chief of the independent Al Dustour weekly, handed a prison term and fine of 2,001 Egyptian pounds ($351). The court also handed down one-year prison sentences to his co-defendants, Sahar Zaki, a journalist at the paper, and Saeed Mohammed Abdullah, an Egyptian who sued Mr. Mubarak for corruption, said the officials. In April, Al Dustour reported that Mr. Abdullah sued Mr. Mubarak in the administrative court, accusing him of squandering billions of pounds in foreign aid and revenues from the sale of public assets.
