Goal-by-goal account of Ronaldo's record

MUNICH: Brazilian star Ronaldo was crowned the King of World Cup scorers on Tuesday, after scoring his 15th goal in the competition and breaking Germany's Gerd Muller's record of 14.

When Ronaldo scored the first goal for Brazil in the fifth minute during the 3-0 win over Ghana, he ended Muller's 32-year reign.

Muller had scored 10 goals in the 1970 Mexico World Cup and then four in the 1974 edition in Germany. Ronaldo set the record across three competitions: the 1998 World Cup in France, the 2002 World Cup in Japan/South Korean and this year's edition.

Before Muller, France's Just Fontaine held the record after scoring 13 goals in the 1958 World Cup in Sweden.
