Nation facing big challenges: Shekhawat

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: The Vice-President, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, on Wednesday affirmed that industrial development, agricultural growth and literacy promotion were the key areas for ensuring progress of the country in the present era of free trade and global competition. The nation, he said, was facing big challenges of wiping out poverty and hunger and providing employment to millions of people.

Mr. Shekhawat, inaugurating a private factory in the Nimrana industrial area in Alwar district of Rajasthan, said the entrepreneurs of India would be able to successfully face the challenge only when they maintained world-class quality of their products.

"At a time when idols of Lord Ganesha are being carved even in China, the market will accept only those products which are cheap and durable,'' he said. Mr. Shekhawat said the inclusion of Nimrana and Alwar in the NCR would bring more entrepreneurs and ensure all-round development of the region. He said the people of Nimrana should be proud of the fact that the small town hosts international conferences where policy matters are deliberated.
