ANANTAPUR: It appeared that one-sided polling have been recorded in several villages in the MPTC and ZPTC elections in the district on Wednesday. The tendency was noticed particularly in Penukonda, Dharmavaram, Tadipatri and Kadiri constituencies. According to the polling information reaching here, more than 60 per cent polling was recorded at S.Kondepalli in Putlur mandal till 11.15 a.m., but the polling was stopped after a TDP MPTC candidate Laxmidevi allegedly poured ink in a ballot box. Similarly, the polling percentage in Tadipatri mandal was recorded at 35 per cent till 1 p.m. and it was only 49 per cent till 3 p.m. However, the percentage crossed 71 till 5 p.m. In Tagarakunta, only 223 and 239 votes were polled out of 1,038 and 1,044 votes in two booths, respectively, till 10 a.m. But the 21.5 per cent and 22.9 per cent polling in first three hours crossed 60 per cent during the next three hours. At Vepakunta, the Congress supporters had an argument with a Sub-Inspector of Police that they would not allow the TDP polling agents to sit in the polling station immediately after he would leave the place. The SI camped in the polling station till 3 p.m. and had to leave on the directions of a superior officer after 3 p.m. Immediately the Congress supporters allegedly forced out the TDP agents. Meanwhile, the district officials have recommended re-polling in Mavaturu in Penukonda mandal, Kunuguntla in Tadimarri and Narnagepalli in Roddam mandal and one polling booth at S.Kodepalli in Putlur mandal.
