Bangalore: The daughters of the late Maharaja of Mysore Jayachamaraja Wadiyar have offered to surrender land required from their property in Bangalore to the State Government and Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) immediately if the BMP issued the necessary to TDR (Transferable Development Rights) in their favour for widening roads. The legal heirs of the Maharaja and the late Princess Gayatri Devi, eldest daughter of the maharaja, referred to the Chief Minister identifying 12 major roads including Bellary Road for widening. "It is axiomatic to presume that any widening of Bellary Road and Ramana Mahrshi Road can happen only by acquiring part of the Bangalore Palace property," the Maharaja's heirs said. They recalled the offer made to the State Government and their willingness to settle out of court the long pending legal wrangle connected with the acquisition of Palace Grounds belonging to them. "We have expressed our desire to jointly develop with the Government the 140 acres belonging to us with a suitable memorial for our late father. The TDR issued by the BMP in lieu of the land surrendered for road widening will be used to build a monument," the former royal family said.
