Bus knocks down woman, set on fire

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Angry public set on fire a private bus that knocked down a motorcycle, killing a woman, on Anekal-Bangalore Road in Hebbugodi police station limits on Wednesday.

The police gave the name of the dead as Vimala (28), a resident of Bovi Street in Ulsoor. Around 4 p.m., Vimala and her husband Arun Kumar were returning home from Narayana Hrudayalaya on a motorcycle.

A private bus bound for Bangalore from Anekal hit the motorcycle near Chikkabegur.

While Vimala was killed on the spot, her husband was injured. Angered by Vimala's death, the public removed diesel from the fuel tank of the bus, poured it on the vehicle and torched it, the police said.
