dated June 30, 1956: New choultry for Tirupati

Mr. K. Chandramouli, Andhra Minister for Religious Endowments, on June 28 laid the foundation for a choultry to be constructed at Tirupati by the TTD at a cost of Rs.8 lakhs. The proposed choultry, on the southern side of the railway station, is designed to have a ground floor and first floor with 60 rooms in each floor. Mr. C. Anna Rao, Executive Officer of the TTD, explained the circumstances that necessitated the construction of another choultry besides the one already there and said the number of pilgrims visiting the place had increased five to six-fold in the past ten years.
