Sudheesh can hardly wait. Germany and Argentina are to take the field in what is seen as an epic clash in Berlin on Friday night, as the football World Cup resumes in Germany after two days' rest. "It should be a great match and I think Germany will win it," says the popular Malayalam cine actor. "Though Brazil is a great side to watch, I think Germany is going to win the World Cup. They have done pretty well so far and are playing at their home too."
Sudheesh has been closely following all World Cups from the 1982 edition held in Spain. His passion for football is hardly surprising; he belongs to Kozhikode, after all. Sudheesh's interest in soccer is shared by other film personalities in the city as well. Scriptwriter Ranjan Pramod, who is set to make his debut as a director and V.M. Vinu, director of films like `Balettan,' `Vesham' and `Bus Conductor,' for instance. "Though I've been pretty busy with work on my directorial debut, `Photographer,' I did try to watch as many matches as possible," says Ranjan. "I enjoyed the Brazil-Ghana game very much; I thought the Africans fought really hard against a great side. I guess the experience of Brazil made the difference in the end. And I am looking forward to the rest of the World Cup as well. I definitely am going to watch the Germany-Argentina and Brazil-France matches. Brazil, I feel, is going to win the tournament," he says. So does Vinu, who missed a few matches because of his new project. "Though I feel Brazil will win the World Cup, I would rather like to see Argentina emerging as the champion," he says.
Watching the Argentines play in this World Cup has been such a joy. But my favourite player in this World Cup is a Brazilian, Ronaldo," he says.
