NEW DELHI: A special court here on Thursday allowed a plea by the Delhi police to conduct brain-mapping tests on Rahul Mahajan and Sahil Zaroo, who are facing prosecution in the drug abuse case. Allowing the plea, Special Judge S.N. Gupta directed the two accused to appear before the investigating officer on July 5. He will fix a date after July 22 for the tests and also tell them about the laboratory where it would be conducted. The special judge also directed the police to make arrangements for food and lodging of the two accused if the tests went beyond a day. However, the accused would be at liberty to go home and reappear at the laboratory next day for further tests, the order said. Counsel for the accused had opposed the prosecution's request on the ground that the tests would harm their clients.
Harmless test
However, the court dismissed their arguments, saying it is a harmless test in which three types of questions are put to an accused and an electro-encephalogram (EEG) of his brain is conducted and no medicine is administered.
