Horticulture Department to get staff, more funds

Bidar: Deputy Director of Horticulture in Bidar has neither technical officers nor staff to assist him.

All these posts are vacant and he is the only employee in the office. Requests by officials to fill vacancies are pending before the State Government for over two years.

Assistant directors in the taluks do not even have chairs in their offices.

The budget allocation for the department to take up extension in all the five taluks is Rs. 1 lakh.

These interesting pieces of information were revealed by Deputy Director of Horticulture N. Manjunath at the zilla panchayat general body meeting in Bidar on Wednesday.

He told the House that the department's work was affected because of staff shortage.

Padmakar Patil (Bharatiya Janata Party) appealed to the House to give infrastructure to the department to develop horticulture in the district.

Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer Munish Moudgil agreed to spare two officials of the Shirastedar cadre to the Horticulture Department. He agreed to provide furniture to the taluk offices.

Zilla panchayat president Anil Bhusare agreed to increase allocation to the department.
