Three players in joint lead

KOCHI: Three players shared the lead with 7.5 points each at the end of the ninth round of the CUSAT FIDE rated chess tournament here on Thursday.

C. Praveen Kumar (TN) defeated overnight leader Swapnil S. Dhope (Mah) to wrest the lead. Babu N. Sudhakar and Aswin Jayaram (both from Tamil Nadu) joined Praveen at the top with wins in the ninth round over Vinoth Kumar and P. Maheshwaran respectively.

Top seed Ratnakaran (Ker) regained his touch to defeat P.V. Girish and shared the second spot with eight others with seven points apiece.
