Kingston: Either the West Indies team management is a cagey proponent of psychological warfare or a victim of delusional thinking. After captain Brian Lara insisted that his team has played better cricket in the Test series, it was coach Bennett King's turn to drive home the point fictional or otherwise. "Certainly, in two of the three Test matches, we have been leading comprehensively in the first innings. The second innings is something we've got to address, and add something to our armoury to get wickets,'' said King. "We have been doing well with the bat. With the bowling too, we have been able to get ten wickets consistently, but we have to get improving in the second innings. But you must remember that our bowlers too are missing."
Grey area
"I think that we need a way when the ball gets older and the wicket gets flatter. We need to have something up our sleeve then, someone who is very, very quick or a world-class spinner who can put pressure on the opposition," he said. "That's probably the area we are looking at tonight." Then came the whopper: ``It's important to get through a couple of India's top-order players. Once we do that, we have shown that we should be able to get through the rest." Did anyone forget to tell him India's last-wicket pair played out 73 minutes at St. Kitts?
