HYDERABAD: Continental CC's new-ball bowler T. Nagaraj took nine for 48 but could not prevent the opponent SA Sports (Amberpet) from recording a 10-wicket win in the A-Division (two-day) league cricket championship here on Thursday. The scores: A-Division (two-day matches) league: SBI 154 (Rajesh Singh four for 38) and 160 for eight (Rajesh Singh five for 35) drew with Brothers XI 144 (Asif Baig 55). Continental CC 113 and 80 (Anwar Ahmed Khan five for 50, Paramveer Singh four for eight) lost to SA Sports Amberpet 163 (P. Vijay Goud 44, T. Nagaraj nine for 48) and 31 for no loss. Our's CC 248 (Md. Aziz 50, Ajay 48, Raghav four for 47, Sujal four for 66) and 168 for six (Md. Abdul Aziz 50) drew with Budding Stars 157 (Md. Abdul Aziz five for 55). Galaxy CC 315 for seven (Satish 56) drew with P and T Colony 253 (M. Sashidhar Rao 71, N. Dinesh Kumar 71, R. Vishal Krishna 57, K. Prithvi Reddy five for 39).
HCA tournaments
Hyderabad Cricket Association will organise cricket tournaments for schools, junior colleges and degree colleges in the under-13, 15, 17 and 19 years categories for the 2006-2007 season. Entries close on July 15 and further particulars can be obtained from the HCA office at Gymkhana Grounds on Phone No. 27905676.
Khaisar scores a hat-trick
Md. Khaisar Ali's hat-trick helped City Club Coaching Centre score a 3-0 win over S.S. Murshad Coaching Centre in the SAAP prize money football tournament for coaching centres here. Khaisar struck in the 56th, 65th and 73rd minutes to seal Murshad outfit's fate.
Hyderabad in final
Hyderabad moved into the final of the sixth senior National indoor cricket tournament defeating Chhattisgarh by 98 runs in the semifinal here. In the other semifinal, Pondicherry scored an 18-run win over Delhi. The scores: Pondicherry 117 bt Delhi 99; Hyderabad 130 bt Chattisgarh 32; For third place: Delhi 87 bt Chattisgarh 55.
Naidu, Archana triumph
V.S.K. Naidu and M. Archana, both from Reserve Bank of India, won the men's and women's singles titles respectively in the Y. Tharak Nath memorial inter-bank carrom championship here on Thursday. S.C. Patnaik, GM, State Bank of India, gave away the prizes. The results: Men's singles: Final: V.S.K. Naidu bt M. Srinivas (SBI) 25-21, 25-0. Third place: S. Raghunath (RBI) bt Y. Subrahmanyam (SBI) 25-12, 25-8. Women's singles: Final: M.Archana bt Rajini (SBI) 25-4, 25-4. Third place: Pramila (SBI) bt Indira (SBI) 25-6, 25-16.
Easy win for NMDC
NMDC scored a five-wicket win over Bank of America in the Sports Un-limited corporate cup cricket tournament here. The scores: Keane 64 (Venkat six for four) lost to Trinity 68 for two; Viva Infomatrix 158 for seven (Rajesh 79) bt Cognizant 113 for five. Wipro 117 for nine (Sunil 48) bt TCS 110 (Raghu four for three); Bank of America 96 (Shankar four for 17) lost to NMDC 101 for five; GECFS `B' 105 for six lost to Veva 106 for five (Vasu 69 not out). IBM Sales 78 for six lost to NMDC 80 for six; Progress Soft 110 for four lost to TCS 111 for four (Mahesh 42).
Handball players for National camps
Seven handball players in different age groups from the State were picked to attend the National camps to be held at different centres. The players are: Jameel and Sajjan (senior Indian team camp in Patiala), Prasanna Gouri and Keerthana (senior Indian women's team camp in Lucknow), Venkatesh (Indian youth camp in Gandhinagar), B. Lalu (sub-junior National camp in Bilaspur) and Haseena (sub-junior National girls camp in Chennai). The players may contact AP Handball Association for further particulars.
Date extended
The last date for acceptance of entries for the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad annual open carrom tournament has been extended from June 30 to July 1. Competitions will be held in men's, women's singles, junior boys, girls singles, sub-junior boys, girls singles, men's doubles, cadet boys, girls and youth boys and girls. Entries may be sent to Martin Menzes, Tournament Secretary, MCH Swimming Pool, Secunderabad or at the Victory Playground, Chaderghat, Hyderabad.
