A 10-day training session conducted by Tiruchi District Cricket Association proved to be an eye-opener for aspirants to join the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) umpires panel. Twenty-five participants from Tiruchi and Thanjavur districts took part in the session, which aimed at helping them clear an examination to be conducted by TNCA on July 2.
The programme, which concluded on Thursday, was conducted at E.R. Higher Secondary School in Tiruchi and T.M. Theagarajan, a former member of the all-India panel of umpires was the resource person. "It is important for the participants to get a better insight on the laws of cricket and due stress was given to this aspect. The previous years' question papers were also discussed during the session," says Mr. Theagarajan.
