Enrolment drive in M.P. schools

Staff Correspondent

Special campaign would focus on children in the 5-14 age group

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan will lead a massive "School chalen hum campaign" (Let's go to school campaign) being launched by the Government in July to ensure maximum enrolment in schools across the State. The special campaign would focus on children in the five-to-14 age group, especially those who do not attend school.

The Chief Minister, his Cabinet colleagues and senior officials would be spearheading the fortnight-long campaign to be carried out in urban and rural habitats between July 1 and 15. The teachers are being asked to go from door to door to prepare a list of children who do not go to school and encourage their parents to enroll them for the new academic session.

All primary schools have been asked to organise special functions to celebrate admissions. The parents-teachers associations and children would also be taking out rallies to carry forward the message of "School chalen hum campaign".

The Chief Minister has written to all people's representatives asking them to extend full cooperation for the success of this campaign.

Division and district-level Government officials have been asked to tour their areas to monitor the progress on the school admission front.

The District Collectors have been entrusted with the responsibility of forming official teams to prepare the village education registers carrying the list of children who do not attend school.

It has also been decided to involve the Forest Department staff and forest safety committees for maximum enrolment of children in schools located in forest villages.
