CHENNAI: The City School of Social and Managerial Sciences, a division of Campus Abroad, in association with the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), is offering a one-year postgraduate diploma course in Corporate Communications and Public Relations Management. The programme begins in August and the last date for applying for the programme is July 15. A. Narayanan, Director of Student Affairs, City School, said, "Factors such as globalisation, IT revolution and rapid development in the press and broadcast media demand the redefining of academic as well as professional priorities in communications and public relations. Today, PR is a vital tool in managing perceptions and behaviour among all sections." The diploma programme aims at producing more quality PR professionals by giving candidates academic and hands-on training. The programme covers various aspects of PR management, including communication theory and application in related professions, PR principles and practices, characteristics of various media, media relations and communication skills (both written and visual). Students will be asked to do a project and undergo internship in a leading organisation. He said the course would offer better placement chances for students in the ever-growing job market. Classes will be conducted during weekends. City School would provide the course material. The course fee is Rs.20,000. The certificate programme will be conducted by the faculty of City School in association with experts from both communication and PR segments.
