Hyderabad : In a unique `writers in residence' programme, seven German authors are visiting seven different Indian cities and their Indian counterparts are touring German cities. This Indo-German project `Akshar', jointly sponsored by the Goethe Institute and Sahitya Akademie, aims at providing the writers a new insight into the affairs of their guest cities.

The programme will culminate in the international book fair in Frankfurt in the first week of October.

"The visiting authors will jot down their everyday experiences and put them online for anyone to access," said Amita Desai, executive director, German Centre.

She told presspersons on Thursday that this was the first such programme where upcoming writers were going round different cities in India and Germany.
