Only six suspected cases of chikungunya: DM&HO

HYDERABAD: District Medical and Health Officer Satyavati claimed on Thursday that there were only six suspected cases of `chikungunya' and they were being treated in the Fever Hospital.

Sixty health teams were pressed into service to check for the disease and they had visited 42 slums screening 4,972 cases. About 4,566 cases were minor ailments, 303 were identified as viral fever, 73 viral fever with reactive arthritis and 24 cases of diarrhoea.

In the meantime, District Collector R.V. Chandravadan has directed fogging operations even during daytime be taken up along with conduct of medical camps in all slums. He visited Sivaganganagar, Sivajinagar, Jangamet and their environs, a press release said.
