Man dies after surgery, case booked against doctor
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
A 32-year-old carpenter Mohd. Jameel died soon after being operated upon for shoulder pain in a private hospital at Banjara Hills on Thursday. The Banjara Hills police booked a case under section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of IPC against Dr. Shabbir of Familia Hospital following a complaint by the victim's family members.
A resident of Jirra in Asifnagar, Jameel complained of pain in his right shoulder. He got admitted to the hospital on Wednesday since doctors at the hospital advised surgery. They diagnosed the pain as recurrent dislocation of right shoulder joint, Banjara Hills Inspector E. Shankar Reddy said. The surgery was performed on Thursday afternoon. On being shifted to the post-operation ward, Jameel again complained of shoulder pain. He was reportedly administered a painkiller by the doctor. Jameel reportedly developed complications and the doctor this time gave an anti-dose called `cortisone', the Inspector said. However, Jameel died within an hour.
