Man rescued from Sankarankoil

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The rural police on Thursday morning raided a house at Sankarankoil in Tamil Nadu and released a 41-year-old man who was kidnapped from Pothencode on June 26.

According to Circle Inspector Neyyattinkara, D. Vijayan, Jagadish of Mariamuttam was kidnapped by an armed gang for coercing him to pay Rs.1 lakh, which he owed to a few persons in Neyyattinkara.

After kidnapping Jagadish, the gang members contacted his wife and demanded the money for her husband's release. They asked her to bring the ransom to an isolated area in Balarampuram. The woman could not manage to raise the money.

Later the woman approached the rural Superintendent of Police Yogesh Gupta, who entrusted a special team to work on the case. The police traced Jagadish using informants. . The police said that they found Jagadish in a badly bruised condition.

The police have arrested Gunasekaran alias Kodeeswaran, 50, a native of Sankaran Koil in connection with the incident.
