Man electrocuted near Lingsugur

He was removing a cable from an electric pole

Raichur: A man was electrocuted when he was removing a cable from an electric pole at his field in Gurgunta village of Lingsugur taluk on Thursday. The police gave the name of the dead as Adeppa Poojari (35). Erappa (22), who was helping Poojari to remove the cable, was injured in the incident. He was being treated at the Government Hospital at Lingsugur, the police said.

Suicide bid

Bassamma (30), wife of Gundappa, drank poison after giving it to her children, Akshata (4), and Amruta (10 months), at Honnalli village in Lingsugar taluk on Thursday. They were admitted to the Government Hospital in Lingsugur. Amruta died on her way to the hospital.

Suicide case

Prabhu (29), a salesman, committed suicide by drinking pesticide at his house in Shakhapur village of Manvi taluk on Wednesday.

Arrested

The police arrested K. Balu, alias Katmani and Raju, alias Bhaskar, and seized 8,555 sachets of arrack valued at Rs. 86,000 from them at Kadagamdoddi Cross on Thursday.
