PMK seminar on reservation

CHENNAI: A host of political leaders will participate in a seminar to be held in New Delhi on Sunday to press for adopting, during the monsoon session of Parliament, a Bill on 27 per cent reservation for Other Backward Classes in Central educational institutions.

Organised by the Pattali Makkal Katchi, it will be inaugurated by the former Prime Minister, V.P. Singh. The Bihar and Uttar Pradesh Chief Ministers, Nitish Kumar and Mulayam Singh Yadav, Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav, Union Ministers T.R. Baalu, Lalu Prasad and Ram Vilas Paswan, Communist Party of India secretary D. Raja and CPI (Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechury are among those likely to take part in the deliberations.

The meet, to be divided into three sessions, will cover issues concerning reservation in institutions of higher education, private sector and the judiciary. S. Ramadoss, PMK founder, will preside over the inauguration, according to a press release issued by the party on Friday.
