ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Friday inaugurated a multi-million dollar project to conserve and restore a temple complex dating back to the seventh century. The Katas Raj temple, which attracts pilgrims from India, is located at the famous Salt Mines, off the Grand Trunk Road on the stretch between Lahore and Rawalpindi. A famous pilgrim was Bharatiya Janata Party leader Lal Krishna Advani, who visited the temple last year. The Punjab Archaeological Department is executing the project, for which technical expertise came from the ASI.
