NEW DELHI: With its eyes set on the business opportunities offered by India and as part of its expansion plan in the Asia-Pacific region, Bayer Material Science, a company of the Bayer group, on Friday announced that it will be launching its first polyurethane systems house in Greater Noida. "The systems house is expected to become operational by early 2007. The Indian operations will be branded as `BaySystems India' and the focus will be on offering material solutions meeting the requirement of the customers", Peter Vanacker, Head of the polyurethanes business unit, Bayer Material Science, told media persons. Polyurethane has applications in construction, automotive and footwear manufacture among others. India offered a big market, which was all set to grow, and the system house would help accelerate the market launch of polyurethane innovations. The company's global network of polyurethane systems houses will offer customer-specific product portfolios in their respective regions. By working together, it would be possible to accelerate the market launch of polyurethane innovations, Mr. Vanacker said. He said that the company currently has 10 per cent share in the Indian market so far as the sale of the raw material was concerned. The system house should help improve the business further, he added while declining to talk about the manufacturing capacity being created.
