Meenakshi holds Sergey Kudrin
NEW DELHI: Sandipan Chanda and P. Magesh Chandran won with ease on the opening day of the World Open chess championship in Philadelphia on Thursday.
Second seed Alexander Shabalov suffered a shock loss at the hands of WFM Abrahamyan Tatev, while S. Meenakshi drew with fourth seed Sergey Kudrin.
The results (first round involving Indians): Sergey Kudrin drew with S. Meenakshi; Abhijit Kunte bt Andrew Karklins (walk-over); Sandipan Chanda bt Liu Elliot; Zoltan Revesz drew with S. Vijayalakshmi; D. Harika drew with Zakhar Fayvinov; Swati Ghate drew with Benjamin Coraretti.
