Indian openers fall early

S. Ram Mahesh

Kingston: India lost both openers early in the fourth Test here at Sabina Park on Friday. Virender Sehwag turned the second ball he faced from left-armer Pedro Collins, the third of the innings, to short-leg, where Ramnaresh Sarwan took an excellent catch. One for one.

Wasim Jaffer's front-foot defence was then breached by Jerome Taylor.

Rahul Dravid had earlier won the toss. V.V.S. Laxman, who edged Collins just short of first slip, ensured India had no further casualties, as he took his side to eight for two from ten overs in his skipper's company.

Both sides named unchanged elevens from the third Test at St. Kitts.

For all the talk of inducting an extra fast bowler — coach Bennett King has a vote in the selection committee — West Indies played only three specialist seamers, and all-rounder Dwayne Bravo.
