New Delhi: Siddarth Trivedi picked up four for 31 to help India `A' restrict Northern Territory Chief Minister's XI to 234 on the opening day of a four-day match at the Marrara Cricket ground in Darwin, Australia, on Friday. Trivedi ripped open the local team's batting with two early blows to remove openers D.K. Richards and A.N. Williams with only 37 on the board. The seamer then returned to claim the wickets of middle-order batsman R. Bowden and tailender S. Mitchell. Rudra Pratap Singh grabbed two for 48, while Ravinder Jadeja and Tejinder Pal Singh chipped in with two wickets each. S. Lavers was the topscorer for the host with 54, while D. Truemer (38) and K. Lawrence (32) came up with vital contributions in the middle to ensure a respectable total. At stumps, India `A' was 15 for one with Gautam Gambhir on five and Jadeja (0) at the crease. Robin Uthappa was dismissed for four runs. India `A' will play a series of one-day and four-day matches Down Under. It takes on Pakistan `A' on July 6 and faces Australia `A' on July 8 at the same venue. India `A' will then play New Zealand `A' in a four-day match at the Gardens Oval, Darwin, before moving to Bundaberg Rum Stadium, Cairns, where it will take on Australia `A' from July 18 to 21 and the Kiwis on July 24.
