NEW DELHI: The arrest of a young boy who submitted a fake Class XII Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) certificate on Wednesday to get into Hindu College has set alarm bells ringing across other colleges of Delhi University. Taking no chances, colleges have chalked out a plan to ensure that they are not caught off-guard.
Compact disc of marks of all Boards
For its part, the University has provided a compact disc of marks of all the Boards to colleges to make sure that students do not dupe them. "No such cases have come to our notice. But as a rule, a committee sits down and checks all the certificates. Certificates from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are scrutinised carefully as these are sometimes easy to fake. These certificates are also sent to the Resident Commissioners of these States in Delhi so that they can verify the details of the students applying,'' said Guru Nanak Khalsa College Principal Harmeet Singh. However, with advanced technology, there is a fear that students might be able to fake certificates so accurately that it would not be easy to tell it from the original. "There were two cases in which we were suspicious, so we checked the data provided by the University. The college carefully examines all certificates at four points and that is why the admission process often takes very long,'' said Gargi College Principal Meera Ramachandran.
