NEW DELHI: A National Security Council Secretariat employee has been arrested by the Delhi police on the charges of leaking vital information to an American woman. The woman, however, is yet to be traced. According to the police, the Intelligence Bureau zeroed in on the accused, S.S. Paul, in the first week of June and handed him over to the Special Cell for his formal arrest. He worked at the National Security Council Secretariat as a system analyst and had allegedly been leaking information for the past one year. After the Intelligence Bureau found out that he had been passing on information to a woman, it tipped off the Special Cell. The police also raided his Janakpuri residence and recovered some incriminating documents. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Ajay Kumar on Wednesday said the FIR registered against Mr. Paul under the Official Secrets Act has been kept in a sealed envelope as it was a very sensitive issue concerning national security. The police are now trying to track down the American woman to whom Mr. Paul was allegedly giving out information.
