MADURAI: The stage is set for establishing an Information Technology (IT) Park in Madurai. The district administration has identified two sites on several acres of land, one near the Madurai Kamaraj University at Nagamalai Pudukottai and the other on the city outskirts, for setting up the much-awaited IT Park. A TIDEL Park is also on the anvil. "Proposals have already been sent to the government and a decision is likely to be taken in a day or two. Madurai has adequate infrastructure facilities for IT companies to establish their units," Collector T. Udhaychandran said on Friday. A mega event, `madurai.com,' planned during October this year, would bring major players in the industry on a single platform. Organisations such as National Association of Software and Service Organisations (NASSCOM) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) had shown interest in associating themselves with `madurai.com.'
List of BPOs
Mr. Udhaychandran said efforts were on to compile a list of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) units in the city in a bid to pool talents. "The objective is to showcase the Temple City as an ideal destination for IT companies. We have all the amenities on a par with metros here. The ongoing road overbridge work at Sellur and Koodal Nagar are being expedited," he added.
