Bangalore: Bangalore University has laid down certain conditions for the affiliated colleges to continue affiliation and recognition, according to a press release. The managements of the colleges have been told to abide by the conditions laid down by the university. In case, any college violated these conditions, teachers, students or parents may inform the university so that action can be initiated against the erring colleges, the release has said. According to the release, the colleges should follow the statutes, rules, regulations and orders passed by Bangalore University from time to time in the interest of students, teachers and other employees of the college. Admissions should be made as per affiliation orders of the university. The reservation policy as prescribed by the Government should be followed. The colleges should follow the rules of the university in admitting 50 per cent of students under university quota (wherever applicable) with the fees fixed by the university, without charging any fee over and above that fixed by the university.
Harassment
The release said that as per the Supreme Court order of August 13, 1997, indulgence in any act of violence or sexual harassment of women at college or work place by any person (including faculty) was a cognisable offence. The colleges and managements had been asked to set up a complaints committee as per the court directions. The colleges should take up and conduct courses to the best advantage of students' development. They should not withhold the marks cards or other documents of the students unnecessarily and not beyond six months or till the date of approval of admission by the university, whichever was earlier. The colleges should not trouble the students in issuing Transfer Certificate if the request had been made. They had been directed not to demand an additional amount, except for the tuition fees for the remaining period of the year or semester. Colleges and managements had been asked not to collect capitation fee in any form, the release added.
