NEW DELHI: The All-India Institute of Medical Sciences Director, Dr. P. Venugopal, on Friday issued an order for adjustment of the resident doctors' strike period from this past May 15 to 31 against extra hours of duty performed by members of the Resident Doctors' Association. As per this order, medicos who were on strike at AIIMS during the recent anti-reservation agitation would be paid their salary for the period and would not need to do additional internship. Meanwhile, suspensions of six Class III/IV employees at AIIMS have been revoked following a clean chit given to them by an enquiry committee set up to look into the matter. The employees were suspended on November 24, 2004, for striking within a radius of 500 metres from the boundary of AIIMS, which is against the orders of the Delhi High Court. The suspensions were revoked "with immediate effect'' on June 28 by a letter issued by the AIIMS Director. The six members of the employees' union of AIIMS were suspended after they struck work demanding that an enquiry committee be set up to look into the death of a son of an AIIMS employee.
