KOTTAYAM: The Episcopal ordination of Sebastian Thekkethecherry as the bishop of Vijayapuram diocese will be held here on Sunday. He will be the fifth head of the diocese and the second from Vijayapuram. Thekkethecherry succeeds Bishop Peter Thuruthkonam who has retired from the administrative responsibilities of the diocese. According to the diocesan authorities, the ordination ceremonies will begin at 2 p.m. at the Vimalagiri Cathedral. Bishop Thuruthikonam will be the main celebrant and will be helped by Archbishop Mathew Moolekkatt, head of Kottayam Archdiocese, and Bishop Stanly Roman, Kollam diocese, as co-celebrants. Bishops and priests from the three Catholic rites will be present on the occasion. The ceremony will be followed by a public reception. Archbishop Daniel Acharuparambil will preside and Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the function.
