33 foreign companies attend Delhi leather fair
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI:
The three-day 14th annual Delhi International Leather Fair (DILF)-2006 opened at Pragati Maidan here on Saturday.
Inaugurated by India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) Chairman and Managing Director N. N. Khanna, the fair is exhibiting the entire range of leather and leather products under one roof.
"The fair is expected to play a vital role in showcasing and promoting the trade of Indian leather. It will be oriented to facilitate the exhibitors and buyers to open new channels for trade in leather products with an accent on footwear and components,'' said Mr. Khanna.
Organised by the ITPO and co-sponsored by the Council for Leather Exports, DILF has attracted over 100 companies who would be showcasing their machinery and products.
With representatives of 33 foreign companies from the U.S., China, Italy, France, Thailand, Spain and Kenya participating, the fair provides an opportunity to the Indian buyers to engage in joint ventures, technology transfer and augment their supply sources.
As a sourcing point for quality and competitive leather and leather products, especially footwear and footwear components, the fair encompasses almost all aspects of the leather industry including finished leather, footwear, leather garments, fashion accessories, leather goods like belts, gloves, handbags and wallets.
