BANGALORE: Demanding disciplinary action against Congress MP Tejaswini Sriramesh, party leaders from the Ramanagaram taluk committee of the party on Saturday gave a clean chit to the former MLA C.M. Lingappa, who has been accused of abusing and threatening the MP.

`Well-respected figure'

With his 40 years of political experience, Mr. Lingappa was a well-respected figure, and he held the public, particularly women, in high esteem, the party leaders told presspersons here.

Ms. Tejaswini has approached the party High Command seeking the expulsion of Mr. Lingappa.

The leaders charged that the MP had used intemperate language against party workers.

She should not forget that the party workers got her elected without expecting a single rupee in return, they said, and urged the High Command not to entertain those who did not respect the workers' sentiments.

Some women party leaders from the taluk committee charged that the alleged "loose talk" by Ms. Tejaswini was unbecoming of an MP.

"As a woman MP, she should be like a mother to the workers. It is our bad luck that we got an MP like her," said one of the party leaders.

Allocation of funds

The party leaders claimed that the MP had neither allocated any money for Ramanagaram under the MPs Local Area Development Scheme nor had she convened a meeting to discuss developmental issues concerning the area.

The MP recently sought police protection saying she had been threatened with an acid attack.
