CHENNAI: The Central Crime Branch police seized more than 1,000 pirated VCD copies of recently released Tamil movies during a raid on Friday. Four persons were arrested. Police said following raids were conducted on pavement shops at Vadapalani, T. Nagar and West Mambalam,selling the VCDs of Tamil movies. The films included `Paarijatham,' `Jerry,' `Aathi' and `Sivakasi,' police said and identified the arrested as Mohammed Ali Jinnah (40) of Hasthinapuram, Chromepet, Rajee (18) of Trisoolam, Raja (18) of Vadapalani and Muthu (47) of Madhavaram. A case under the Copyright Act was registered against them. The Vigilance Wing of the BSNL filed a complaint with the police stating that one person running a computer showroom at Purasawalkam allegedly converted ISD calls into local ones. Police arrested the computer centre owner P. Sasikumar (29) of NSK Nagar, Arumbakkam. The conversion of ISD calls into local ones by using an instrument resulted in a loss to the tune of Rs. 12 lakh to the BSNL.
