Alleged auto-lifters arrested

NEW DELHI: Three alleged auto-lifter, including two minors, have been arrested in South Delhi. Six stolen motorcycles were recovered at their instance.

According to the police, two of the accused were riding a stolen motorcycle when they were arrested at Okhla on Friday. The vehicle had been stolen from the same area. The third accused, Manoj, was arrested at Tughlakabad Extension. During interrogation, Manoj allegedly confessed to his involvement in at least 16 cases of auto-lifting cases.

Man held on robbery charge

NEW DELHI: A 24-year-old man has been arrested by the South Delhi police for his alleged involvement in robbery cases.

The accused has been identified as Chunni Lal. The police said he was involved in two robberies reported from Mehrauli and Malviya Nagar. On June 24, he had allegedly robbed an auto-rickshaw driver of cash and a mobile phone. In May, he along with his accomplices robbed another auto-rickshaw driver of his vehicle. At his instance, the police have recovered the auto-rickshaw.

Chunni Lal had earlier worked with a mobile phone service provider company as a marketing executive but quit the job as he was not being paid a good salary.

Suicide by woman

NEW DELHI: A 26-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide at Uttam Nagar in West Delhi in the early hours of Saturday.

According to the police, Priya was found hanging from the ceiling fan around 2 a.m. Enquiries revealed that she married Ashok Khera in 1997 and began working in Mumbai as a bar dancer. However, her husband was murdered in 2002, after which she returned to the Capital in 2004 with her daughter. Later, she fell in love with one Pawan Chauhan and started living with him.

She had a son from him, but about six month ago she had a fight with Pawan, following which she started living with her parents.

Remanded

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Saturday remanded a man accused of forging signatures and seals of notaries to extract money to one-day police custody.

Diwan was arrested yesterday in connection with six FIRs for alleged cheating.
