KANNUR: The Masonic Lodge of Kannur has initiated various charity programmes in the district. Under its `Dhanya Dhan' scheme, a continuous project of contributing foodgrains to the needy, the Masonic Lodge here has undertaken charity initiatives to help children living in a centre for rehabilitating destitute and poor patients in Pariyaram Medical College Hospital. The Lodge has also endowed its charity measures to help the Blind School at Mangattuparamba here. One of the 85 Masonic Lodges in the country, the one here recently observed universal brotherhood at Dr. T.D. Nair Memorial Freemasons Hall at Talap. Its charity programmes were inaugurated on the occasion. Masonic Lodge Master T.N. Babu Ravindransays that though the organisation has some secrets restricted to traditional modes of understanding and some parts of its rituals, it is certainly not a secret organisation.
