Bidar: Freedom fighter Hakikat Rao Chidgupkar died in Gulbarga recently. He was 85. He had served as special officer for identifying and recognising freedom fighters involved in anti-Nizam movement. The Bidar District Freedom Fighters and Successors Organisation paid homage to him on Saturday. Organisation chairman Manikrao Phulekar told the meeting that Chidgupkar hailed from Bidar. He had first joined the "satyagraha" organised by Arya Samaj leader Pandit Narendraji in 1938. He was active in the Quit India Movement in 1942. Honorary president of the organisation Thakur Brijpal Singh, and secretary Gundappa Lalwadi were present.
