TIRUNELVELI: Indian Overseas Bank, Chennai, won the Kandasamy Memorial Trophy defeating Indian Bank, Chennai, 4-3 in the final of the sixth annual State-level invitation hockey tournament organised by Jothi Sports Club at the Anna Stadium here on Sunday. At half time the teams were level 1-1. IOB opened the account in the 12th minute with a penalty corner conversion by Muthuselvam. Indian Bank's equaliser came in the 24th, when Prabakar scored a gem of a goal off a fine pass from Raja. Thirumavalavan then put Indian Bank ahead in the 43rd minute. However IOB equalised in the 48th minute with another penalty corner conversion by Muthuselvam and regained the lead in the 56th with a goal by Jegan Senthil. Indian Bank again equalised in the 61st, when Dinesh Nayak sounded the boards off a penalty corner. IOB finally got the winner five minutes from close through Felix. Miss Apoorva, member secretary SDAT, presided and T.P.M. Moideen Khan, Minister for Sports, gave away the prizes. Mr. K. Jothikumaran, secretary general, IHF, felicitated. — Sports Correspondent
