Sharath loses to Korbel

Santiago: Achanta Sharath Kamal lost a fiercely fought encounter to fourth seed Petr Korbel of the Czech Republic in the Chile Open table tennis tournament here.

The 24-year-old from Chennai, who became the first Indian to enter the semifinals of an ITTF Pro Tour event at the Brazil Open, took the Czech to seven games before going down 8-11, 11-9, 2-11, 11-7, 7-11, 12-10, 6-11 in the pre-quarterfinals. — UNI
