THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The one-time settlement scheme of the Kerala State Housing Board for the beneficiaries of various housing schemes has been extended up to September 20. The scheme was launched as part of the drive to collect arrears. The scheme offers concessions to those who have availed themselves of the loan and hire purchase schemes. While penal interest has been completely waived under the scheme, defaulted payment of interest has been completed waived for the beneficiaries of the projects for weaker sections and 70 to 100 per cent for other projects. The scheme offers half per cent (0.5 per cent) reduction in interest rates to those who have not defaulted the payment and five per cent cut in interest to repay the outstanding principal amount. Beneficiaries can repay the arrears together or in instalments during the period.
