Staff Correspondent
Madikeri: Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav has said that he will recommend to the State Government to expedite the process of granting land to ex-servicemen in the district as a special case. He was presiding over a "Sainik Adalat" at the Old Assembly Hall here on Saturday, according to an official press release. He urged the deserving to submit applications to the Kodagu Ex-service Personnel Association before July 15. The applications would be classified hobli-wise and processed by the District Sainik Welfare and Re-settlement Board here by July 31. The processed applications should reach him by August 15, Mr. Yadav said. He asked tahsildars to extend their cooperation in dealing with the applications. Mr. Yadav said that he would look into the issue of sites that were identified for distribution among ex-servicemen in Madikeri in the past. Many submitted applications to Mr. Yadav seeking sites. Some sought concessions in the gun licence renewal fee, house tax and hospital charges. Mr. Yadav asked the board to write to the Government and the Army headquarters in this regard.
