NEW DELHI: The Delhi Government has decided to sell "urad dhuli' and "moong dhuli dals" at Rs. 38 per kg at 70 Circle Offices of the Food and Civil Supplies Department from this Tuesday. The prevalent retail prices of "urad dhuli" and "moong dhuli dals" are Rs. 54 and Rs. 52 per kg respectively. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit while announcing this decision over the weekend said her Government has taken this step to provide the much-needed relief to the consumers of the Capital. The decision was taken at a meeting called by the Chief Minister where the office-bearers of Delhi Grain Merchants Association, Delhi Dal Millers Association and Dal and Besan Millers Association were also present. Ms. Dikshit called upon the office-bearers of the three major associations to render constructive cooperation in checking the skyrocketing prices of pulses. She impressed upon them to provide pulses to the Delhi Government at reasonable wholesale prices to enable it to sell the two popular "dals" at affordable prices. This will bring down the prices of these two "dals" to be at par with most of others "dals" which are being sold at less than Rs. 35 per kg. The Chief Minister welcomed the initiative of the Union Government to import and make available the two "dals" to consumers in the Capital in a couple of weeks. The Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Raj Kumar Chauhan, and Industries Minister, Mangat Ram Singhal, also urged the associations to extend their whole-hearted cooperation in curbing the rising prices of pulses to provide immediate relief to common man.
