Dialysis centre inaugurated

Vasavi Dialysis Centre, a part of the Vasavi Medical Trust, was inaugurated here on Sunday by Minister for Higher Education D.H. Shankaramurthy. According to the promoters, the centre will provide dialysis to the needy with the help of state-of-the-art machines imported from Germany. The day care dialysis centre will make available doctors in case of emergency. At a time, six patients can be provided dialysis.

Ban order

In view of the ongoing legislature session, the City Police Commissioner has clamped prohibitory orders within one kilometre radius of the Vidhana Soudha from 6 a.m. on Monday till Friday midnight.

Coaching

Gnanabharathi, a training institution, will conduct free training for Karnataka Administrative Service and Indian Administrative Service examinations from July 9. Degree holders and other students can take part. For details, call Ph: 9341215864, 26672768.

Teachers directory

Manav Charities, an institution involved in educating students from rural areas, has initiated a drive to identify retired teachers and form a district-wise directory. Retired teachers will be asked to don the role of counsellors and psychologists to motivate the students. They have been asked to send their bio-data by July 31 to the institution. Applications invited

The Karnataka State Archives Department has called for applications from voluntary organisations, individuals and educational institutions for financial assistance from the National Archives of India for preservation of manuscripts and rare books. Third prize

Abdul Malik Ansari of Kristu Jayanti College has won the third prize at the all-India essay competition on "Democracy and corrupt politicians" conducted by the Competition Success Review magazine.

Mohan M. Gurjar has been elected president of Bangalore Club for 2006-07. The other office-bearers are J.K. Bihani, Ajay Toshniwal, K.A. Jagadish, Kenneth P. Pinto, C.N. Kumar, Niranjan Roy, G.V. Radhakrishnan, and K.C. Venkatesh.

Training programme

The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management of R.V. College of Engineering will conduct a two-week training programme on "Business process modelling" from July 17 to July 29.
