`Rotary should take lead in human rights protection'

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Former Prime Minister I.K. Gujral on Sunday urged Rotarians to take the lead in launching programmes for protection of human rights in the nation. At the felicitation ceremony of Padma Shri awardee Rajendra Kumar Saboo, the second Indian Rotary International president here, he said Rotary International had excelled in carrying out polio eradication programmes in the nation. The organisation should now concentrate on safeguarding human rights, especially towards ensuring protection of women and child rights, he said.
