Bank held guilty

New Delhi: Holding pubic sector Canara Bank guilty of deficiency in service for not crediting to a customer's account the full amount of a cheque, a consumer court has directed the bank to pay him Rs. 10,000 as compensation for causing mental agony.

The North-west District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum comprising President K.S. Khurana and member S.C. Jain also ordered the Tri Nagar branch of Canara Bank to pay Rs. 5,000 as cost of litigation to complainant Ram Krishan, a resident of Swami Shradha Nand Park for `negligence' in service. -- PTI
