CHENNAI: SlashSupport, an offshore technology support company, has set up an exclusive 250-seat BPO (business process outsourcing) training facility at Teynampet here. The facility is equipped with the latest hardware, software, training aides and other tools, including a laboratory and library. The simulation lab will have the products of the 30-odd clients of SlashSupport. It will help the employees simulate a complex array of possible problem scenarios at end-customer locations and enable effective advanced tech support solutions. According to Shiva Ramani, CEO, the training facility could function on a three-shift basis and train 750 to 1,000 people. The facility is funded out of the profits of the company. "It does not have any revenue generation focus for us,'' Mr. Ramani told The Hindu in a telephone interview from South Korea. The company had already hired around 20 trainers. With SlashSupport set to move into Tier II cities, Mr. Ramani hoped that the new facility could become a training hub prior to placement of personnel in these cities. SlashSupport is in the process of hiring over 2,000 professionals to take its headcount to over 5,000 over the next 12 months.
