Isolated rain likely in T.N.

CHENNAI: Yesterday's deep depression over northwest Bay and adjoining Orissa coast moved westwards and crossed Orissa coast between Paradeep and Chandbali around 2030 hours IST on 2nd July 2006. Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over coastal Andhra Pradesh. Rainfall occurred at most places over Kerala and coastal Karnataka, at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Lakshadweep and at a few places over interior Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu and Rayalaseema. The following stations recorded heavy to very heavy rainfall in cm: Veeraghattam (Srikakulam dt.), Linganamakki (Shimoga dt.), Kammardi and Kalasa (both Chikmagalur dt.) 15 each, Somwarpet (Kodagu dt.) 13, Madikeri 12, Sringeri (Chikmagalur dt.) 11.

FORECAST (valid until Wednesday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely at most places over coastal Karnataka and north coastal Andhra Pradesh, at many places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and interior Karnataka and at a few places over Rayalaseema and Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely over Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING: Isolated heavy to very heavy rain is likely over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and coastal Karnataka during next 48 hours and isolated heavy rain likely over Telangana and Ghat areas of south interior Karnataka during the same period.
