Facile win for Madan

RAMANATHAPURAM: Madan Mohan defeated Sai 6-0, 6-0 in the first round of the boys' U-14 singles event in the Dr. E.M. Abdullah memorial State-ranking tennis tournament organised by the Ramanathapuram District Tennis Association here on Monday.

The results: Boys: Singles: U-14 (first round): N. Bala Vignesh bt Madhusudhan 6-0, 6-1; Sachin bt Deepak 6-1, 6-3; M. Hari Vishnu w/o C. Ramkumar; Vishnu J.J. Shree bt Sajan Shah 6-1, 6-0; R. Shanjeev bt Roshan 6-1, 6-1; Kuberan bt Digh Vijay Pandian 6-1, 6-2; Bala Ramesh bt Nelson 6-0, 6-0; Arun Aditya bt Arunachalam 7-5, 7-6(4); Vasanth Kumar bt Vishnu Daran 6-0, 6-0; Ajit Selvam bt V. St. Britto's triumphs

St. Britto's Higher Secondary School lifted the Mangayarkarasi trophy defeating Mangayarkarasi HSS 18-25, 25-19, 27-25 in the final of the Madurai District schoolboys' volleyball league in Madurai on Monday.

Earlier in the semifinals, St. Britto's beat American College HSS 25-19, 25-18 and Managayarkarasi HSS beat TVS HSS 25-20, 12, 25, 25-23.

Selection trials
